Summary: Miranda and Sal have been friends for a very long time but when Sal stops talking to Miranda and will not tell her why is a mystery that she has to figure out. This is not the only mystery Miranda will have to solve living in New York City. Where does she start figuring out all of the mysteries?
Personal response: This book was another favorite after I read it. It is a life lesson book that I've recommended to students that think their life is strange. I also love mysteries and could not wait to figure out the many that are throughout this book.
Classroom connections: While reading the story to the students, I would use the study guide provided at http://www.bookrags.com/studyguide-when-you-reach-me/ to demonstrate to students the elements of writing. This would be a great introduction to have students analyze a work of literature that has a guide to aide them in their own writing process. Students would be able to access this through out their writing process. I feel it is important to give students as many resources as they can have.
