Preschool Reflection & Advocacy Statement
Preschool Advocacy Statement 9/19/12
I support retelling stories because studies have shown that retelling is a way that teachers can assess student learning. By using explicit instruction, explaining why retelling is useful, modeling the procedure, giving students opportunities to practice, and providing feedback. Students' retellings should become more detailed as they become better readers. I believe that is will make students appreciate what their reading if they have a deeper understanding if of how it will benefit them. Preschool Reflection 9/21/12
By writing my parent communication I learned how to create a website using weebly. I found this website very user friendly and made my website look very professional. Having a way to communicate with parents during non-school hours is a very valuable tool. I realize that for parents/guardians who do not have Internet access that I would need to print out the resources and send home with the student. I feel the value in this project is to reflect on what you are either doing or going to do in your classroom. It is important to keep your students’ families updated on the activities that happen while they are at school. I felt I had success with this project and enjoyed doing this project because I was able to create a resource that can be used at any time and not just by my students. The changes I would make is to have other tabs with more links for other resources that families would be able to use if their student is having problems with their homework or need additional help.
