Personal response: I like how this book is written with snippets of articles that happened after her disappearance and then some of the story before. It is such an inspirational and unfortunate story at the same time. The photographs were coordinated well with the text.
Classroom connections: After reading this story to the student, I would use this story to introduce a lesson on how to achieve your goals, even if they seem impossible right now. I would have students create a story map to share with the class. I would also use the teacher guide on http://www.randomhouse.com/book/50332/amelia-lost-the-life-and-disappearance-of-amelia-earhart-by-candace-fleming#aboutthebook , and modify for several subjects.
