Summary: Almaz loved the taste of honey and knew she wanted to make the best honey anyone has ever tasted. She went to visit the beekeepers and told them she wanted to make honey. They informed her that only men were able to make honey. After several failed attempts, would she be able to figure out how to make honey?
Personal response: This is another inspiring story that I will read to my students. Even after several attempts to build a hive, she never gave up trying. What a great way to show that if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish any goal.
Classroom connections: Showing the book to the students, I would ask them what they thought the book was about. Then I would read the book to them. We would stop periodically to discuss any vocabulary they would not know. Then using the lesson plan found at https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:97mpgCigarkJ:cmapspublic3.ihmc.us/rid%3D1KPPXRBMQ-1DQ2N4-1HM/Ingle%2520Instructional%2520Design.docx+&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESiTVeoN04TofPzun1hBMxgY0eluDRygbYIr5QEhRK2ytoVJUgZZR4Dt_ffN7mpnIeRdIFk1d33swbQD83Y5VSLCwRfS94KkNSutIioiemgspSYb0W-u2j7SNEUmbC1g4PdBjPUk&sig=AHIEtbQPrqIicnP6wJB5l0y5DuLebAYKnQ , I would have the students do some of the activities, especially the pre-assessment.
